A spice grinder is recommended to be used for several reasons. Freshly ground pepper and salt will enhance flavors, making your dish tastier. In case of quality grinders, you can even adjust the granulation as required by recipe.

The Peugeot salt and pepper grinders from the Fidji collection bring a special elegance to the table due to their hourglass-shaped design and to the materials used.
The upper part is made of stainless steel and, along with the Peugeot logo, has the letter S or P printed on, depending on grinder's contents. This part can be unscrewed to allow for adding of spice. Here, we can also find the knob to select granulation, which rotates clockwise for finer grind and counterclockwise for coarser grind. The lower part, the body of the grinder, is made from beech wood.

The Peugeot mechanisms are specially developed according to each one's purpose. Thus, pepper grinders use a grinding mechanism, made of hard stainless steel, with two spiral-shaped rows of teeth to effectively guide the peppercorns. The first row, larger, is designed to crush the peppercorn and the second one to ensure a perfect grind.

This salt grinder mechanism is designed to crush kitchen coarse salt, being made from stainless steel and being resistant to the corrosion caused by dry salt.

What type of salt is recommended?

For the best results, this grinder is recommended to be used with dry salt, with crystals of maximum 4 mm in diameter, such as the salt extracted from mines or coarse salt. Do not use salt grinders to mince pepper or sea salt, as its moisture might corrode the mechanism.

What type of peppercorns is recommended?

Black, white or green peppercorns, dried, hard, with a maximum diameter of about 5 mm, are recommended. Pink peppercorns can only be used in a mixture (maximum 15% of pink pepper) with any of the above-mentioned types of peppercorns. Also, dried coriander seeds can be used in the Peugeot peppercorn grinders.
