In the manufacture of Peugeot salt grinders, part of the wood is discarded during the numerous quality control phases, in case it has minor visual imperfections. The wood, whose intrinsic qualities are not impacted, is blasted with ground nutshells to create a textured finish, then protected with a plant-based varnish. This process reveals the contours of the wood and gives this manual pepper grinder its distinctive appearance.

Lifetime guaranteed mechanisms

The Peugeot mechanisms are specially developed according to their purpose. Thus, the peppercorn grinders use a grinding mechanism made of hard stainless steel, equipped with two spiral-shaped rows of teeth to effectively guide the peppercorns. The first row, which is larger, is designed to crush the peppercorns and the second row ensures perfect grinding.

The mechanism of the salt grinders is designed to crush the salt crystals. The mechanism is made of stainless steel to resist the corrosion process caused by prolonged exposure to salt.

What kind of salt is recommended?

For the best results, we recommend dry salt, whose crystals do not exceed 4 mm in diameter, such as the mine-extracted rock salt or coarse salt. Do not use the salt grinders to grind peppercorns or sea salt. The sea salt's moisture can corrode the mechanism.
