N°08 pocket knife, from the "Engraved" range, made of stainless steel, blade length 8.5 cm, Opinel brand

Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, the Opinel knife from the "Engraved" range honours the Tour de France cycling competition with the image engraved on its handle.

The knife provides excellent cutting quality and the safety ring allows the user to use it safely.

Martensitic stainless steel
The stainless steel used in the manufacture of OPINEL blades is optimized to guarantee both high resistance to corrosion and high mechanical performance.
The blade offers excellent sharpness and high resistance to abrasion (wear), which allows it to withstand the normal contact with hard materials, such as ceramics, before requiring resharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of not needing special maintenance under normal conditions of use, unlike carbon steel. However, it can reach its limits when it is put in prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent...).
Stainless steel hardness: 55-57 HRC.

The handle
Oak wood comes from France. It is a hard wood, very resistant to insects and fungi thanks to its high tannin content. The wood has a yellow-brown appearance with regular ribbing.

Safety ring
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted on all foldable knives from the N°06 model onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade when it is closed (safety during transport).
