The Opinel Explore N°12 pocket knife is a versatile knife, ideal for nature, hunting and survival enthusiasts.

The N°12 pocket knife comes equipped with:
- short and robust high-quality stainless steel foldable blade

The tick extractor can be used for both humans and animals and enables you to handle the tick without crushing it. Tick extraction will be done with a rotation movement. It has two slots that can be used depending on the size of the parasite.

This is a vital tool to prevent the Lyme disease when exploring lush or wooded areas.

Martensitic stainless steel

The stainless steel used in OPINEL blades is optimized to guarantee both high resistance to corrosion and high mechanical performance.
The blade offers excellent sharpness and high abrasion (wear) resistance, allowing it to withstand the usual contact with hard materials such as ceramics before requiring resharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of not requiring special maintenance under normal use, unlike carbon steel. However, it can reach its limits when put in prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent...).

Stainless steel hardness: 55-57 HRC

The handle
The handle is made of glass fiber-reinforced polyamide to withstand shocks, humidity and extreme temperatures (-40°C to +80°C). The built-in 110-decibel survival whistle works irrespective of weather conditions.

Safety ring
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted on all foldable knives from the N°06 model onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade when it is closed (safety during transport).
