Oyster knife N°09, from the "Nomad Cooking" range, made of stainless steel, blade length 6.5 cm, Opinel brand
With a short and sharp-tipped blade, this knife is perfect for opening oysters, and the safety ring allows for safe use.
Martensitic stainless steel
The stainless steel used to manufacture OPINEL knife blades is optimized to guarantee both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance.
The knife blade offers excellent sharpness and high abrasion (wear) resistance, allowing it to withstand the usual contact with hard materials such as ceramics before requiring resharpening. Stainless steel has the advantage of not requiring special maintenance under normal use, unlike carbon steel. However, it can reach its limits when put in prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent...).
Stainless steel hardness: 55-57 HRC.
The handle is made of Padouk, a dense particularly fine African wood. The wood color varies from purple-brown to pink with purple streaks.
Invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, the Virobloc safety ring is fitted on all foldable knives from the N°06 model onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade when it is closed (safety during transport).
Blade length: 6.5 cm
