June 13, 1731 was a day under the sign of Gemini in the Gregorian calendar. On that day, Peter Henckels, a skilled knife craftsman, had the idea of registering his workshop’s logo with the Guild of Master Knife Makers in Solingen.

More than 290 years after that initiative, the Gemini symbol can still be found on all Zwilling products, and the brand is recognized as one of the oldest registered trademarks in the world.

Renowned for its high-quality knives, Zwilling introduced innovative manufacturing technologies to ensure hard blades with optimal flexibility, as well as perfect geometry that guarantees the precision, stability, and durability of the products.

Today, Zwilling products rank among the world’s top-performing products and can be found in more than 146 countries and regions.

Thank you, Peter, for your brilliant idea! 😊

ZWILLING's Recipe for Success

Totul despre Zwilling

Nearly 300 years of experience and innovation are reflected in every stage of manufacturing, through the maximum optimization of every process to achieve perfect results. “Perfection” is a big word, but when it comes to Zwilling, we use it anytime, without hesitation and without false modesty.

  1. The best "ingredients" are used.

Perfect recipes are based on the highest-quality ingredients. The recipe for the best knives is based on Zwilling’s specially designed steel formula. This type of steel, known as “ZWILLING Sonderschmelze,” stands out through an optimal combination of chromium and carbon that determines the material’s supreme quality.

  2. The composition heats up very well.

Forging is the essence of manufacturing any knife. Through forging, the knife is subjected to extreme conditions of force and temperature that give it its final shape. SIGMAFORGE® knives are precision-forged from a single piece of steel, guaranteeing perfect knife geometry, optimal flexibility, precision, and increased blade stability.

  3. Then it is left to cool down.

Material hardness is essential in a knife. If the steel is not hard enough, the blade will become dull. If the steel is too hard, the blade will break. For this very reason, and to always guarantee a perfect degree of hardness, Zwilling developed its own cryogenic hardening process, patented in 1939 under the name FRIODUR®. The knives are immersed in liquid nitrogen to create exceptionally fine and durable blades with outstanding resistance to staining and corrosion.

  4. At the end, a touch of refinement is sprinkled on top.

Beyond an exceptional blade and a comfortable handle, a perfect knife is also endowed with distinguished design. The ergonomic and elegant shape, the small details, the way the knife feels when you handle it. Cooking is not only about functionality, but also about beauty, emotion, and passion, whether you are cooking for 30 people in the kitchen of a sophisticated restaurant or cooking at home just for yourself.

The prices of these famous knives range from 30–40 lei to 2,000 lei or even more, depending on the type of knife, the product line, and the materials used. However, let us not forget one essential piece of information: Zwilling products are a long-term investment.
